Whether you are looking to buy a working farm in one of the rural parts of Spain, a traditional style Farmhouse or a Finca, there are many to choose from.
Although commonly translated as farm, the word finca is generally a small country property that is very much sought after now. Many Expats choose to purchase old Spanish finca´s for their rural location, and most Finca´s do come with enough land to keep animals. With the land that generally comes with Finca´s you are able to start a small farm for personal enjoyment for animal lovers and those that wish to live in a sustainable property.
Theses properties can be off-grid, have there own energy source through Solar panels and even own water supplies through underground wells.
If running a farm is not for you and you wish to purchase and old style farm house, just for the space and tranquillity that a rural property gives you, always check the regulations of building and restoring property on rural land.
Generally if there is a building on the land, permission is normally granted to renovate. If no building is on the land a minimum plot of 10,000m2 is required for building on rustic land.
There are many working farms also available to buy here in Spain, they can be purchased to run as a business. Olive farms and Vineyards are extremely popular and there is a new trend of work and stay holidays on farms. Either traveller´s stay on the farm for free and work the land with you. Or pay to stay in accommodation and help with the picking of grapes on the Vineyards as they learn all about wine.
